A Wasco middle school counselor was arrested Monday for molesting a 14 year-old girl.
Kern County Sheriff’s Deputies were summoned to the city Sunday night for a child molestation investigation. The KCSO released a news bulletin saying that Jose Solis, 37 of Shafter, had touched a girl in an inappropriate manner during their preliminary investigation.
Solis was a counselor at Thomas Jefferson Middle School (305 Griffith Ave.)
Kelly Richers, superintendent of Wasco Union Elementary School District, stated in an email that the district was notified Monday by KCSO deputies about the arrest of KCSO deputies “dues to allegations unknown to district at this time.”
Richers refused to answer any other questions as this was a personnel matter. Solis was booked in jail at 12:13 Monday morning on suspicion of a felony of a lewd, lascivious act of child, annoying or molestation of child and sexual battery.
Monday’s Kern County District Attorney’s Office statement stated that it has not yet received KCSO’s investigation for possible charges.
