Jan Repko, a violin professor, is charged with sexual assault through penetration.
The Royal College of Music Professor appeared in London’s Westminster Magistrate’s Court on Saturday, February 18, 2023.
According to reports, “the charges relate to an incident that took place in Westminster in July 2022 and was reported to the police in the same month.” Officers of the Central West Command arrested Repko in August 2022 and charged him Friday, February 17, 2022. He allegedly assaulted an unidentified woman over 16 years old. The act included penetration.
Repko has not entered a plea. He will be arraigned before the Southwark Crown Court, on March 17.
Repko taught at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and Chetham’s School of Music, but, according to The Violin Channel he is not associated with these institutions or employed there anymore. The same source reported that Repko had been fired from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam because of allegations of inappropriate behavior in 2001.
Bail is set at 15000 pounds. He is not allowed to contact current or former students, and he cannot attend the Royal College of Music unless a written appointment has been made. Repko must also surrender his passport and is not allowed to travel. He will have to adhere to a curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. that will be monitored electronically.
