A man faces sexual assault charges following a DUI arrest by Barbour County Sheriff’s Deputies earlier this month. During an interview with the Child Advocacy Center, he admitted to illegal acts.
According to the criminal complaint, Abdeahmed Gahlan, 25, was in possession of the vehicle on Sunday, February 19, when the arrest occurred. A search warrant was executed Tuesday, February 21, on the car.
Deputies found 2.3 grams of suspected marijuana in a bag marked “BackPackBoyz”, $1,332 worth of U.S. money in the vehicle, and Gahlan’s phone.
The complaint stated that on Wednesday, February 22, a deputy interviewed a child under 16 years old at the Harrison County Advocate Center. The child revealed to the deputy that they had a sexual relationship.
The crimes revealed during the interview are said to have occurred in November 2022 and February 2023 in Barbour County.
Gahlan was accused of two counts of third-degree sexual assault and one count of possession of intent.
Gahlan was already free on bail as of Friday morning. In the criminal complaints against Gahlan, both Elkins and Prentiss in Mississippi are listed as addresses.
