The woman Harvey Weinstein has been convicted of raping in 2013 — leading to a 16 year prison sentence — has come forward to reveal herself as a Siberian model-turned-florist.
“I want my own life back. I’ve been raped. This is my story,” Evgeniya Cernyshova told the Hollywood Reporter, who was previously known only as Jane Doe 1.
Chernyshova was the only one of the four women who testified that Weinstein had sexually assaulted them in Los Angeles.
She explained that she remained anonymous because she was embarrassed and ashamed.
“I thought I was making a good choice to protect my children. It was a terrible decision for me because I have been cut off from everyone. It’s not right to suffer through this hell by yourself.”
According to the magazine, Chernyshova, a mother of a teenage daughter, reported her encounter with Weinstein four years after the incident. Weinstein is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence in New York for sex assault.

She said she was introduced to the disgraced film mogul at the Los Angeles Italia Film Festival 10 years ago, and then returned to her hotel by herself. Chernyshova claimed that she opened the door reluctantly and he rushed in, sat down and took off his jacket. She claims that Weinstein, after a few minutes of small talk, quickly tried to turn the conversation sexual.

Weinstein was convicted on three counts in December, all related to his encounters with Chernyshova. He received eight years of prison for forcible rape and six years of prison for forcible oral copulation.
Chernyshova was left broken by the attack. She suffered from depression and excessive alcohol consumption, which led to her divorce.
Weinstein was convicted of rape both in New York and California. This is one of the most publicized falls from power that Hollywood has ever seen.
